Composite is the most versatile material available for making minor or major changes in dental appearance. With proper technique, the function and longevity of composite rivals porcelain while providing benefits other materials can’t match. So why are so few dentists maximizing this potential? A dentist’s success with basic operative restorations doesn’t always translate into success with more complex freehand restorations and full resin veneers. This comprehensive seminar will benefit each attendee by sharing an organized step-by-step approach that includes operative technique as well as vital diagnostic and marketing skills to achieve "Ultimate Aesthetics" with composite bonding.

Course objectives:

This program is aimed at the dentist who wants to achieve the ultimate in lifelike direct resin restorations while enjoying the artistry of creatively replacing tooth structure with his or her own skills. Learn what it takes—using your own hands—to build a freehand composite veneer. This experience will help you to immediately improve the resin restorations your patients want and need. Participants will complete their own composite restoration featuring one of the most challenging situations—a full veneer to brighten a dark tooth.

Learning objectives:

  • Step-by-step procedures for individual tooth changes (color change, Class IV’s, and more)
  • How to provide solutions for common problems (worn teeth, diastemas, and more)
  • Layering—understand when and why to use each material including tints and opaquers
  • Dramatic Smile Makeovers—why porcelain isn’t always the best option
  • Verbal skills that will gain patient interest and increase patient acceptance
  • Practical occlusal principles for maximizing longevity
  • Contouring and polishing technique for an incredibly natural finish
  • Maintenance for many years of happy smiles!

1st day, 1:00P-4:00:

Hands-on Workshop:

Undetectable Class IV Restorations

Using realistic models, you will restore a significant fracture on a central using a predictable technique to achieve an “undetectable” restoration. Step-by-step instruction will include how to prep conservatively, avoid tooth show-thru, and provide the patient with a long-lasting restoration that can function as a natural tooth. This session will complement the lecture of the same title, which is highly recommended to assure you get the most out of the hands-on.
Learning Objectives:

  • Layering the resins, tints and opaquers to achieve natural translucency and color blending
  • Controlling the opacity and translucency to match any natural situation
  • Predictably invisible margins even when in the mid-facial of a tooth

1st day, 4:00-5:00: Q & A, review

2nd day, 8:00A-noon:

Composite Bonding:

The “Ultimate Esthetics” Course (continued)

This program is aimed at the dentist who wants to achieve the ultimate in lifelike direct resin restorations while enjoying the artistry of creatively replacing tooth structure with his or her own skills. Learn what it takes—using your own hands—to build an “invisible” restoration. This technique can be used for individual composite restorations or full composite veneers for a smile makeover. This effective educational experience will help you to immediately improve the resin restorations your patients want and need.

2nd day, 1:00P-4:00:

Hands-on Workshop:

Diastema Closure and Class V Restorations

Using realistic models, you will restore a diastema between a lateral and central incisor as well as a deep abfraction lesion on a canine. The same technique learned on Day 1 will be applied to these common problems to achieve more “undetectable” restorations. Each type of restoration or veneer has specific goals, but the same technique is used on all for a predictably successful outcome.
Learning objectives:

  • How to know when a prep isn’t needed
  • Using a template (aka putty index) to improve speed and results
  • Polishing technique for an incredibly natural finish

2nd day, 4:00-5:00: Q & A, review
